lundy flags

There are a number of flags that have flown above Lundy: but, strangely for such a semi autonomous island, never a recognisable flag of its own. Martin Coles Harman did fly flags (including the Icelandic flag for some reason), and did use his own designs. The last lundy flag was the one immediately below and was flown from the Ugly on boat days: but as far as I am aware, since 1969, it has always been the flag of St George.

Andre Coutanche of the LFS is the authority on Lundy flags. Andre has suggested a number of designs, and yet there still hasn't been a real attempt to have a flag adopted officially.

I designed my own flag, which I intended to reflect the Welsh / English influences of the Island:

but I am persuaded that it doesn't work. Andre has since designed a further flag, which is in my opinion the most satisfactory of all: it reflects all the traditions that have combined to give us the Island of today, it is distinctive, and it is attractive.
